Welcome to Guidance. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Guidance ("Guidance," "we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the website at guidances.net and our mobile apps (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Guidance is not therapy or medical care. It is a self-reflection and journaling tool for everyday wellbeing. It does not provide medical, psychological, or professional advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for professional care. Never disregard professional advice or delay seeking it because of something you read here. If you are in crisis or may be a danger to yourself or others, contact your local emergency services or, in the US, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).

1. Who can use Guidance

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By using it, you represent that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.

2. Your account

Some features require an account, which you create by signing in with Google or a phone number through Firebase Authentication. You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account and for keeping access to it secure. Please notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. Your content

The words you write in Guidance are yours. You retain all rights to your entries. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content solely to operate the Service for you — for example, saving your journal, generating an affirmation, and showing your entries back to you. We do not claim ownership of your content and do not use it to advertise to you. See our Privacy Policy for details on how your content is handled, including the difference between offline mode and AI mode.

4. AI-generated content

When you use AI mode, affirmations are generated by an AI model (Claude, by Anthropic). AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable, and it does not represent professional advice or the views of Guidance. You are responsible for how you interpret and act on anything the Service provides. Do not rely on Guidance for decisions that require professional, medical, legal, or financial expertise.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
Attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours, or disrupt or overload the Service.
Reverse engineer, scrape, or misuse the Service or its underlying providers.
Use the Service to harass, harm, or infringe on the rights of others.

6. Availability and changes

The Service is currently offered free of charge. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, and we may add or remove features. We do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. If we ever introduce paid features in the future, we will make the terms of those clear before you are charged.

7. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, be accurate or reliable, or be free of errors or interruptions. Guidance is not a healthcare provider and provides no medical or mental-health services.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Guidance and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed one hundred US dollars (US $100.00) or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, whichever is greater.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Guidance and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and may request deletion of your account (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Nebraska, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts located there, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
